Hallo techians..

i think all of us are aware of esnips.com and its huge content. Its a good file hosting site where you may store your data FREE :)
Till few days back it was providing facility to download mp3 files
stored there but due to recent DMCA complains they have adopted a new
policy for users in which they are providing streaming of songs but not
providing download facility.

esnips

As you may see in the screenshot even if i have installed internet
download manager which facilitates the users to download even if any
flash content is there on the page. But still you cannot use to to
download the mp3 from this site now :(

Not to worry. By using a simple logic i found the way. Whatever
files are there on the page its actually stored in the browser’s cache.
Bingo!! this was the key..

All you need to find the cache folder. Linke am using firefox
browser in which its easiest to find. Just type the following in the
address bar

About:config

you can see the path of the cache folder

cache

Just see the path of the cache folder here.

locate it.  and sort the files there in “date modified” and u may see few files in mb which are almost on top

cache2 All you need need to copy this file to some other location and rename it to anyname.mp3

Done!! So simple it was.

Change default font in Word 2007

Posted on May 19, 2009 by admin | No Comments

Up to Office 2007, the default font in Word was Times Roman Numeral and most people had gotten pretty used to that. In Word 2007, Microsoft decided to get fancy and change the font to a smoother and curvier Calibri.

I have to admit it does look nice, but that’s not necessarily what you want if you’re writing term papers in college or your final thesis. Then you have to follow MLA standards, etc. So here’s how you can change the default font in Word so that you don’t have to change it manually every time your start up the program.
Change default font in Word

Open Word and make sure you are on the Home ribbon. You should see the Font section second from the far left. Now click on the small arrow at the bottom right of that box.

This will bring up the full font configuration dialog box. Here you can change any of the settings associated with a particular font, including the character spacing and effects.

At the bottom, you’ll see the button Default. You can change the font, font style, size and other effects to your desired settings and then press the Default button to set those options as the default to be used whenever you start a new document.

You’ll get the following message when you press the button:

Changing any default setting in Word is simply saving those changes in the NORMAL template, a special Word file that is used as the base (skeleton) for all new documents. That’s all you have to do! Enjoy!

Did you people ever wish to set-up multiple home pages in Firefox ?

you can easily do it without using any third party addon.

Suppose you would like to set Orkut, Google and techian.com as your homepages. Then try this tweak in Firefox to set multiple homepages. It can be done as:

  • Goto Tools>Options>Main
  • In the When Firefox starts drop down menu choose Show my home page
  • In Home page give your homepages separated by a | (pipe symbol)

Example: http://www.google.com|http://www.orkut.com|http://techian.com

  • Click OK

Now next time when you start Firefox all of your three home pages will be displayed simultaneously.

If you’ve ever lost information on your iPod, from accidentally reformatting, or a crash, there are a couple of simple ways to possibly get that information back (depending on the severity or damage caused).

First thing to do, DO NOT start copying files onto your ipod. Unless a thorough format is done, your data is still on the iPod, just checked off to be overwritten. A quick format just checks off everything to be erased. If you start copying files back onto the iPod, the data will start to be overwritten. This is how your file system works on your computer as well.

All your data is organized by the FAT32 file system, so a recovery isn’t difficult, and can be done from a windows 98 computer if need be.

Now, to recover the data, you need a program that thoroughly searches all the clusters on your iPod’s HD for data. The program I’m currently using is Recover4All Pro v2.26. The free version allows you to scan your iPod’s drive for free (and see all the contents that have been deleted), but you need to register in order to recover the files it found.
http://www.recover4all.com/

Another program I would suggest is PC Inspector, http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm, but it’s also limited unless you purchase it.

And finally, Handy Recovery, which can be found at http://www.handyrecovery.com/index.shtml, but it’s also limited until you purchase it.

In either case, I’ve found recover4all to work best for me, it’s pretty simple, and you can recover files while it’s still searching. This is pretty useful, since it takes about 2-3 hours to scan the entire 20gb iPod HD.

Most of the time you lose your original file structure, but the files are intact unless they’ve been overwritten, or the Hard Drive itself is damaged.

Edit:
Data Recovery for Mac Users

I’ve searched around for Mac compatible recovery software, and came up with 2 results. (There may be more, but this is all I can seem to find).

Stellar Information Systems has one that’s compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.x and above. There’s a demo you can try, but the full version is priced a bit steeply at $300 (this may not be so steep considering people lose data that is invaluable to them).
http://www.stellarinfo.com/mac-data-recovery.htm

Another one I’ve found is called Virtual Lab that’s also compatible with OS X and OS 9.x. You can try it for free, letting you search the entire HD of the mounted iPod, but they have a novel approach to pricing; you pay by how much you wish to recover. I can see this working for people who do not need an entire software suite, and would just like to recover their data one time only.

The same process to recover data applies to Mac users

Well, yesterday there was a post in oug community on orkut, a guy accidentally deleted one of his important file from his system. He even emptied the recycle bin too. Later he tried many softwares but was not able to recover it. So i thought of writing this article to help people to recover the lost file that is important to them.

WHen you delete the file from your system, it is not actually deleted but it is simply removed from the list of the files in the folder.
If you’re using Windows and you deleted the file using Windows Explorer, the file will not have been erased from the disk. It will have been moved to the Recycle Bin. If you’re a Mac user, it’s moved to the Trash. If you use Linux KDE, it’s the Wastebin. Whatever the bucket shaped object is called, as long as a file remains there it can easily be restored in its entirety, with no problem at all. So the first thing to do when you want to recover a deleted file is look in the Recycle Bin / Trash / Wastebin.
If the file you need isn’t there – if you emptied the bin, used Shift Delete to get rid of the file, deleted it from within an application or used some other method of removing it that bypassed the bin – then it is still almost certainly recoverable. When you empty the Recycle Bin or delete a file using another method, the file is still not really deleted. The file no longer exists as far as the operating system is concerned, and the space it occupied becomes available for re-use by other files. But the disk space does not get re-used straight away, so the data contained in the deleted file will stay on your hard drive for some time to come.

A frequent misconception is that the System Restore feature of Windows Millennium, Windows XP and Windows Vista can be used to recover deleted files. However, it is no help at all. System Restore was developed specifically to restore system files back to an earlier state. Its purpose is to enable easy recovery when a software update, installation or removal has an adverse effect on the system. It provides a simple way to roll things back to a point in time when everything worked.

Chances of recovery

Because the operating system doesn’t immediately re-use space from deleted files, a file can be recovered or undeleted right after it has gone, and for a fair while afterwards. But the chances of a perfect undelete decrease the longer you leave it, because eventually some or all of that space will be re-used.

The chances of recovery also depend on how full your computer’s hard drive is. Windows tries to avoid re-using disk space that has recently been freed, to give deleted file recovery software a better chance of working. But the fuller a drive is is, the sooner the freed-up space is going to be used by other files.

If you have defragmented the hard drive since the file was deleted, then this has severely harmed the chances of a successful recovery. Current files will have been moved into the free space left by deleted files in order to reduce fragmentation, making it much less likely that undelete software will be able to find anything useful.

Tools that can help you undelete files are not provided as standard in any operating system. So you will need to use undelete software.
Recover deleted files
Undelete software understands the internals of the system used to store files on a disk (the file system), and uses this knowledge to locate the disk space that was occupied by a deleted file. As we’ve already said, because another file may have used some or all of this disk space, there is no guarantee that a deleted file can be recovered. But usually it is successful. In fact, users of our recommended product Uneraser have often been amazed to find that it recovers files that were deleted months or even years ago. The best undelete programs give you an indication of the chances of recovering a file intact, and even provide file viewers so you can check the contents before recovery.
